Volunteer in Nepal With Vsn Nepal

The mission and objective of the VSN Nepal Volunteer Program in Nepal is to encourage and invite International/National volunteers to contribute to community development, education development, as well as health and environmental activities of the Nepali people. Our programs in Nepal promote the volunteering opportunity in Nepal for individuals to build international links and mutual friendship, through a global partnership. It is our belief that through hard-work and positive thinking, we can all help to improve cultural tolerance and encourage world peace. It is of course better to have previous working experience but NO EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY to take part in most of the programs and VSN Nepal strongly encourages all applicants who have a positive outlook and a strong desire to help improve Nepal. All volunteers will enjoy a unique opportunity for travel, adventure and exploration (both natural beauty and self-exploration).
Volunteers will experience life in Nepal first-hand, working alongside Nepali people to help support local communities in Nepal. In this way, volunteers will make a meaningful contribution to a disadvantaged segment of the world community, while participating in a cultural exchange with local people who will ultimately be responsible for sustainable development.

Voluntary work in Nepal can be an extremely rewarding and life-changing experience. Upon arrival, and throughout their stay, volunteers will receive a warm welcome from the Nepali people, who are famous for their honesty and hospitality.
Volunteers will live and work in one of the world's most diverse countries, with geography that ranges from the peak of the Himalaya to the tropical heat of the flat Terai; from the chaos of Kathmandu to the tranquillity of rural villages.
Volunteer Society Nepal is an established leading volunteer organization with professional and committed staffs. VSN Nepal makes sure all our volunteers are well prepared before beginning work as a volunteer by providing orientations, training in Nepali language, culture and work practices. VSN Nepal does everything possible to look after our volunteers' safety and make sure they will have a meaningful and pleasant stay. VSN Nepal volunteer program in Nepal is not merely a volunteer placement; we customize the programs to match the need, taste, and interest of our volunteers.

Volunteer Society Nepal, in conjunction with many local Nepali people, has created an environment from which volunteers will benefit strongly by:

-Making a great contribution to the ongoing development process of Nepal
-Developing work experience in a marginal society and third world country
-Developing their personal and life skills
-Developing a strong understanding of the Nepali people, their language, and their various cultures
-Enjoying such opportunities as taking part in local festivals, weddings, farming, and visiting different areas in local villages
-Enjoying the spectacular natural beauty and landscapes of Nepal

Program Aim
The Volunteer Society Nepal Volunteer Program aims to assist the sustainable development of under-developed Nepali communities, through projects aimed at children, youth and women. Programs are co-ordinated through rural government schools and community-based programs, with community-based programs often initiated with the help of VSN, volunteers and local community members.
The Volunteer Program achieves its aim by initiating and/or assisting with sustainable community-based project development, concentrating on raising local awareness of fundamental social issues, including education, health and sanitation and conservation.
The process of community development is slow in Nepal, despite the efforts of the government and rural NGOs. This fact makes the need for motivated volunteers even greater. Few villages in Nepal have basic sanitation facilities, resulting in widespread basic health problems, such as malnutrition and the spread of water-borne diseases. Thus, volunteers play a key role in increasing the ability of communities to address these issues.
Volunteers participate in creating sustainable community groups, such as youth groups, student groups and women's groups, and will work very closely with partner NGOs, who are already working in the field on specific issues, utilizing their expertise and experience.
Volunteering abroad is also an excellent opportunity for personal and professional growth and development, and can provide a sense of individual freedom. Volunteering in Nepal, especially in rural Nepal, can be a once in a lifetime opportunity. Volunteering in Nepal is fun, personally challenging and adventurous, but throughout your placement you will enjoy the support of our highly experienced staff at VSN Nepal , who are dedicated to ensuring the well-being of all volunteers.

Volunteer Society Nepal invites organisations, individuals, couples, groups, students and experts, as well as senior and young professionals to make a great contribution and bring changes by getting involved in :

Why Volunteer In Nepal
Volunteering in Nepal is a once in a lifetime opportunity for all of you who wish to undertake a meaningful journey and do their bit towards making this world a better place for all. With numerous volunteer work opportunities such as serving poor children and women, teaching languages, working on health projects, conservation work, etc., you will get to spend time in three of the bustling cities of Nepal - Kathmandu (capital), Pokhara, and Chitwan. Of course, volunteering in Nepal requires you to be patient, open-minded, and humble when interacting and working with the locals.

Types Of Projects Available

Though there are several volunteer programs available in Nepal, some of the most common ones (which have a higher demand for volunteers) are supporting local orphanages, local schools, teaching English, and working with health centers. Almost all volunteering in Nepal projects are available in Chitwan, Pokhara, and Kathmandu.

As a part of volunteering in Nepal, you have the opportunity to choose the kind of project you are interested to volunteer in. The different types of volunteer projects available in Nepal include:

Teaching English: This volunteering in Nepal program requires, volunteers to be placed in various local schools to teach conversation and reading level English to Nepali children. Just as English is an important skill for a good job placement in the world, Nepal is no different. The requirement of English speaking work force is on the rise in the country. To teach Nepali children English, you don't require any formal teaching qualification. However, you do need a good command of spoken as well as written English, lot of patience, and unquenchable enthusiasm.

Children's Homes: In Nepal, volunteers will get the opportunity to act as a big brother or sister to many of the Nepali orphans who live in orphanages across the country. You will also be required to help with cleaning, gardening, doing repairs, planning activities etc.

Health Education: Health education volunteering in Nepal means working closely with children's homes. The key focus area is on preventative measures by educating Nepali children about regular basic health check-ups, administering necessary childhood immunizations, personal hygiene, and sanitation as a disease prevention method. For this program, you need to be either a medical student or an advanced degree holder in medicine.

Community Maintenance Program: This involves practical application in village settings. Some of the community maintenance projects include painting or plastering, however, those of you with additional skill sets can help in more advanced work. You'll get to work alongside villagers, learning about traditional methods of building and working.

Home Stay/Cultural Exchange: A short volunteering program, this is also a wonderful way to get the best value out of your time in Nepal. You will be staying with a Nepali family in a small rural village or even within a city. During the duration of your stay you will learn about all aspects of Nepali culture, lifestyle, food, as well as attend couple of hours of language sessions twice in the day.

Volunteer Requirements
The two most important requirements for volunteering in Nepal are:

? Age - 18 years or older
? Health - no major health problems

Volunteering in Brazil programs is open to participants from all over the world and to individuals, families, and couples.

Fee and Other details

There are fees attached for every volunteering project you opt for. The fee is charged in advance and is applied for accommodation, food/meals, travel insurance, etc. The project coordinator takes care of most of your needs as a volunteer in Nepal throughout the duration of the project that varies from 7 days to 4 weeks.

Conclusion
Volunteering in Nepal is your chance to learn a new culture as well as contribute toward the society.

A team of Nepali development workers, social activists and ex-overseas volunteers founded Volunteer Society Nepal in 2004.From the early stages of development, VSN Nepal has been mobilizing international and local volunteers in various programs, providing relevant training and working experience in marginalized communities, and contributing to overall sustainable development efforts in Nepal. Additionally, VSN Nepal has developed a school building construction program to benefit some of these communities, which are often desperately lacking facilities.
VSN Nepal is also involved in supporting some of the more unfortunate children of the country, in an effort to improve their education and development at the grass roots level, by awarding scholarships and sponsorship for primary and secondary schools and strengthening community organizational capabilities.

Nepali culture and dating? (Answers: 2) (Comments: 0)
I'm in college (America) and like an international student from Nepal. We're friends now, but is there a way to tell if he likes me? I'm unfamiliar with the signs that show if a person of the Nepali culture likes someone or how they would ask people on dates or anything (if they don't have an arranged marriage). Would it be offensive if I asked him? Thanks a lot to anyone who can help me. I'm a bit lost on the subject.
